Katy’s pov

Hotel hotel hotel.

I haven’t been home in a while. I miss my people. And thank God for the people here.

As if on cue, Markus walks in through the bedroom door. I lay watching mindlessly scrolling through my phone before glancing up.

“I could have been having exhausting, but mind blowing sex right now and you basically would have just ruined it. Such a buzz kill. Your recent birthday has changed you.” I say in a droned out tone that just makes me funnier. At least I think so. I’m just tired, though.

“Please, you haven’t gotten laid in -“

I look up at him and raise my eyebrows in a joking way that says don’t really sassily. I knew he could hear it.

“ROOM SERVICE!” I hear being called.

I look up quick as if I’ve been caught.

“What did you get?” Markus asked, not noticing.

“Hot, mindblowing sex. Now get out!”

He laughs, “I’ll get it.”

I push my body further under the covers and lie there staring at the ceiling. I assume Markus tips the man and then brings me in a tray.

“Katy.” He says handing it to me.

“I’ve been eating really well lately and I haven’t been drinking and I’m craving chocolate and there’s nothing you can do to stop me.”

He joins me on the other side of the bed and I uncover fresh chocolate chip waffles that makes my mouth water.

“Shoulda got a belgian waffle,” He says.

** flashback **

Katy picked up a pillow from the couch and threw it at her. She missed and the pillow swiped the top of Shannon’s head, landing behind her. “Whoa, watch it! I’m eating food of the god’s right now.” She explained.

“Yeah what is that mess you’re digging into?” Cheryl asked, getting up and walking toward the table to better examine it.

Shannon’s mouth was full, but she didn’t let that stop her from saying, “A waffle.”

Shannon scooped up a good amount on her fork and fed it to Cheryl whose eyes went wide, “That’s delicious.”

“Hi, I’d like to order a short stack of extra chocolate-chip pancakes please to room 1202,” Katy was ordering a breakfast of her own before letting her body fall back onto the couch where Cheryl had been.

“Get me one of these,” Cheryl said. Katy cocked her head to the side and mouthed What? Pretending she couldn’t hear her. Cheryl began walking towards her mouthing Get me a waffle! Katy pointed at the phone glued to her ear mouthing What? I can’t hear you, what?! Cheryl’s eyes still wide, excited by her sweet tooth, reached for the phone, but Katy leaned back, extending her arm out as far as it could go, an amused expression on her face. Cheryl was supressing a laugh before she had to let one knee on the couch in order for her arm to reach as far as Katy’s. Her petite body was now straddling Katy to finally reach the phone. Sitting back on Katy’s lap, her legs around her and folded underneath herself, she said in her Geordie accent, “May I also have one of them belgian waffles as well?”

** end flashback **

I laughed before taking a deep breath to extinguish any further thoughts or feelings regarding Che- her and filled my mouth with a piece of the waffle she cut up. Chocolate chip with whipped cream on top. With a full mouth I say, “I don’t really like belgian waffles.”

Markus’ phone begins vibrating and he pulls it out of his pocket. “Ah, Cheryl.” He says.

“WHAT?!” I feel small, moist, invisible pieces spit out of my mouth a tad as I screeched in disbelief. Even as I heard it come out of my mouth I wanted to slap myself.

“My mom’s sister, you’ve met her; she’s not that bad.” Distracted by the phone call, he didn’t catch on. Or was he playing coy? The faint hello he answered was heard in the background of my thoughts

I giggled at how ridiculous I was being.

“Cheryl.” I say it out loud….. ”You know, I bet she and I are fine?”

What Markus mouths trying to understand me while simultaneously holding a conversation with his aunt “No, I don’t think he knows-” I heard him tell her.

“It was so long ago and in this business it’s hard to stay on bad terms and like we should be friends. I’m still friendly, nice or whatever with Travvie and it’s not like I never spoke to other exes afterwards- although there are a few I would like to avoid-” I was spewing my thoughts out loud.

My eyebrows furrowed as I stuffed my mouth with a bite of waffles to avoid anymore unnecessary qualms about Cheryl.

I wipe my hands on my sweats just incase they had excess waffle or syrup or whipped cream on them and pick up my phone, chewing and swallowing the bite.

“Cheryl,” I search in the conversation menu. As our old conversations come up, I see the last few texts were all from Cheryl back in December.

:: I’ve arrived home safe. I understand why you wanted me to go, but I am a bit hurt, love

:: Let me know when you’re free to talk! x

Cheryl’s pov

Careful! I’m almost spilling me wine everywhere. Another glass, last one. I’m such a lightweight.

“I may have had one too many, but more me another!” I turn around and laugh at Kim, me best friend.

“Look who you’re talking to love- I’m trying to pour one more and it might not even go in the glass, but maybe I’ll sober up before pouring yours!”

The familiar text message sound goes off.

“Chez, you’ve got a text!”

Kim reaches for the phone that lit up.

I turn to look at her with a glass of wine in each hand and begin back toward the sofas.

“And what do they want now?”

“It’s Katy-” she begins and if on impact, crashing into the words as they came at her, she dropped both glasses from her hand. The delicate glass shattered to the floor and the red liquid fluidly moved across the hardwood. I think I saw the liquid spread in slow motion or at least I feel it that way. But this was all a split second and Kimberly was still speaking. “She just says hello and how are ya.”

“I’m such a klutz-“

Kimberly laughs in agreement, “I know.”

We’re tipsy and having a good time so I play to the mood and the words come out as if I’m joking, “Fuck you, Katy Perry!”

Kimberly is hopping along back into the room with paper towels and I just stare at the mess, putting my hands on my hips.

Not even that time I called Benedict Cumberbatch a shitty actor during the Golden Globes.

OK, I did call her an ex-wag D-lister but I was being fececious I swear! (spelled that wrong idk) She looked beautiful in that dress.

Anyway, those kind people pointed out that she’s a spokesmodel for L’oreal in territories where people know who she is and so she’s been a guest of theirs at Cannes for several years now. Here’s her cleavage in 2011.
